The proposed projects provide smart and sustainable use of local resources and represents responsible resource stewardship with numerous benefits, summarized below:
THE PROPOSED RECYCLED WATER PROGRAM AND BENEFITS
- Reduced demand on limited local surface and groundwater supplies;
- Reliable irrigation water supply for irrigation of parks, golf courses, public landscaping, and vineyards;
- Increased water supply for environmental restoration of wetland habitat and improved stream flows for riparian habitat and fisheries recovery;
- Promote sustainable practices;
- Give top priority to local needs for recycled water;
- Less discharge of treated water into the Bay and rivers; and
- Increased access to federal and state grant funds through regional cooperation.
